Sewing Organiser

Finished Size:   24” x 10 1/2”

This organiser when opened consists of 3 compartments: Left Hand Side, Middle, and Right Hand Side.

Requirements List

A)     1)     Fabric for Outer Body:-  26” wide x 12” long.

     2)     Fabric for Interior:- 26” wide x 12” long;

     3)     Wadding:  (double sided fusible preferably, if not one side fusible)  of 27” wide x 12 1/2” long,

                   which can be purchased at Joan’s or Bon Fabrics).

B)     1)     Fabric for Left Hand Side - same colour as per interior fabric:-

          a)     2 pieces of 8” wide x 12” long.

          b)     Medium to Heavy double sided fusible interfacing, or one side fusible :-8” x 12”.

     2)     a)     Felt for needle holder-  Colour to coordinate with your colour scheme:  

               2 1/2 “ wide x 2 1/2” long.

          b)     Fabric to cover Felt (2a) - (colour to coordinate with your colour scheme):-

               3” wide x 3” long; add 1/4” seam allowance.

     3)     a)     Pocket One:-  

               Fabric (same colour as interior fabric) of 8” wide x 12” long (6” long when folded);

               8” x 6” light interfacing H180, or similar, and a strip of 8” x 2”.

          b)     Pocket Two:-  

               Fabric same colour as interior fabric or whatever colour you choose:

               of 8” wide x 10” long (5” long when folded);

               8” x 5” light interfacing. H180, or similar, and a strip of 8” x 2”.

C)     1)     Fabric for Middle Section :- (same colour as interior fabric):-

          a)     2 pieces of 8” wide x 12” long.

          b)     Medium to heavy double sided or one side fusible:-  8” wide by 12” long.

       2)     Floss Housing

          a)     2 strips of vinyl of 8” wide x 1 1/2” long (to be provided).

          b)     2 strips of fabric:  (colour as per your colour scheme).8” x 2”.

          c)     2 ribbons of 8” long x 1/4” wide each to coordinate.

     3)     Fabric for Pockets with flaps:  colour as per your colour scheme :-

          a)     Cut 2:  11” Wide  x 4 1/2” long; (when folded will be 5 1/2” wide).  

               Light interfacing H180, or similar, of 5 1/2” x 4 1/2”

          b)     Fabric for pocket flaps same colour as per 3a):-  Cut 2:  7” x 5”,

               and Light interfacing  H180, or similar, of 3 1/2” x 2 1/2”.

D)     Right Hand Side Clear Pocket:-

     1)     Vinyl : 12” x 6” (to be provided).

     2)     Fabric for top side of clear pocket  - (colour as per your scheme colour):

          12” long x 3” or 4” wide (when folded: 1 1/2” or 2”  wide depending on the width                you wish it to be, to be attached to zip.

     3)     Zip of 12” or 14” (colour to match fabric at D) 2).

     4)     Fabric for strip or  binding - (colour as per D) 2). 12” long by 2”, to attach to zip.

     5)     Fabric for strip or binding - (colour as per D) 2) for bottom of vinyl:

          12” long x 2” wide.

E)     Fabric for Binding around Organiser:-

     80“ x 2 3/4”, plus 20” x 2 3/4” for closure tie.

Students to bring:  Sewing machine, Cutting mat, Rotary cutter, Rulers, thread as per your colour scheme, and the usual sewing kit.

Iron and ironing board at premises.
